The Get Lost Saga doesn’t start and end with Maurice Foote or his crew. The Galactic Protectorate is full of people and stories waiting to be told.
We’re going to explore one of them, together, as it happens!
Here’s the TLDR version: I’m going to serialize a brand-new story set in the Get Lost universe, with new characters and a different kind or story arc.

Just keep in mind it’ll be on the rough side, a semi-polished work in progress, if you will.
Now for the long version, for those who want to know how the sausage is made…
In case my comic strip didn’t give away my deep, dark secret… I’m a gamer.
If you’re an aspiring writer, roleplaying is a great way to stretch your mental muscles. You get to try new ideas, see what works and what doesn’t. There’s just as much meticulous forethought that goes into it before game day as there is exciting improv once the dice start rolling. The players become a great source of inspiration as they bounce ideas back at you, find unusual solutions to problems, or go on a completely different path than you expected.
Back in the day (read 20+ years ago), I turned my group’s adventures into novellas, more polished and slightly less chaotic, finding connections that hadn’t been explored in-game and tightening up threads that might have been hanging loose at the table.
These were never meant for public consumption, of course, but it was something my players appreciated, getting to experience their adventures again from a whole new perspective.
(I also made custom mugs and t-shirts, but that’s another story)
Then, during the Pandemic, I finally started roleplaying again, using a virtual tabletop and webcams to keep everyone connected. We played Star Wars, using the Genesys system, in a campaign that went on for the next three years.
Once it was over, and had a satisfactory ending, there was a question as to what we would play next.
At this time, I had published Lost Souls, had finished Lost Cargo, and was working on the first draft of Lost Lives.
And I realized I had a HUGE bible of information keeping track of everything in the Get Lost universe. Species, cultures, planets, ships, weapons, equipment, technology… even a timeline that went back six thousand years.
What if I adapted all that into the Genesys system and we played in that setting next?
I had practical reasons for doing this. Even if we never played it, this was a great way for me to organize and edit my notes, since some things I had written in the initial bible had changed between the first and third books. It gave me a chance to expand the setting by adding things I hadn’t actually written about yet, which sometimes lead to flashes of inspiration in another area of the universe entirely.
Soon I had a 200 page RPG supplement for the Genesys system, which could double as a revised bible for future books.
My players were excited to play, given that they all enjoyed the Get Lost novels. So slowly, bit by bit, we got ready to start a new campaign. By the time I had the seed figured out and we got the characters made, figuring out their motivations, allegiances, and history, I realized this could be something special.
So why not share the adventure with fans of the Get Lost Saga who are still waiting on the next book?
Now, I can’t promise that this will be a success. Unlike other stories that were based on roleplaying campaigns (most notably the first Expanse novel, Leviathan Wakes, by James S.A. Corey), this is going to be written pretty close to when it’s happening.
Events will be revised, condensed or expanded upon as needed.
It’s gonna be rough. It’s gonna be raw.
It’s gonna be fun.
Even if it’s a disaster, it’ll be fun.
But I don’t think it will be a disaster.
So, with all that said, prepare yourself for… Convictions.
